Keeping families together by removing the barrier of unaffordable veterinary care.
Most animals do not lose their homes because they are unloved. They lose them because a family reaches a veterinary bill they simply cannot afford. Community Care is our answer: donor-funded veterinary access that helps good people keep the pets they love.
The Community Care Fund connects families in need with high-quality veterinary care through the Veterinary Rescue Collaboration. Residents apply, recipients are selected fairly, and approved care is delivered by our veterinary team.
A broken leg. A painful dental infection. A needed surgery. Vaccines that have been put off because groceries and rent came first. For many families, a veterinary bill is not simply inconvenient โ it is impossible. And when care feels out of reach, pets can suffer at home or families may believe surrender is their only option. Community Care steps in before a difficult moment becomes a goodbye. Residents in participating communities submit a simple application when veterinary care has become financially out of reach. Because available care is limited, each local Community Care program uses a fair selection process so assistance is never based on influence, favoritism, or a donor relationship. Approved animals are scheduled into available Veterinary Rescue Collaboration capacity through our veterinary team, mobile clinic, partner clinic days, and participating facilities. Donors, businesses, sponsors, and foundations underwrite appointments so families can receive approved veterinary care without the retail-price barrier.
Community Care is built around the same standard of veterinary medicine we would want for our own animals.
Veterinary evaluation, diagnostics, treatment planning, and follow-up when medically appropriate. Anesthesia, monitoring, pain management, and supportive care are treated as essential parts of medicine โ not optional extras. The goal is access to care. Community Care is designed to remove the retail-price barrier and turn sponsorship dollars into veterinary capacity.
Community Care is built locally. Each participating community has its own fund, application process, sponsor network, and impact reporting while sharing the same underlying mission: help families keep the pets they love.
The Community Care model that started it all. Supporting Osawatomie families with donor-funded access to veterinary care and building a replicable model for small and rural communities. Goal: create roughly $100,000 in veterinary care impact over 10 months and help approximately 400 pets and families. Bringing the neighbor-helping-neighbor model to Raytown. Building local veterinary access through our Raytown-area campus, mobile veterinary clinic, partner clinic days, donors, and local business sponsors. Vision: help Raytown families receive needed care while keeping pets in loving homes and reducing pressure on the shelter system. Community Care grows at the speed of community generosity. A business can underwrite a block of appointments. A donor can help fund one family's visit. A foundation can sponsor a larger period of care. There is no requirement for a single sponsor to carry an entire community. Many small acts of kindness can build the same lifesaving capacity together.
We are not waiting for someone else to fix the problem.
We are building a model where families keep their pets, animals get the care they need, fewer animals enter shelters, fewer accidental litters are born, and communities prove they can take care of their own.
Start locally. Prove it works. Grow it responsibly. Bring others with us.
Choose a community, sponsor care, and help prove that no family should have to lose a beloved pet simply because veterinary care became unaffordable.
