These are the core values we want every animal to experience. At Always & Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary, we go beyond giving rescues a place to sleep. We show them love and acceptance while they await their furever homes.

Our Mission

Elderly pets deserve a loving, comfortable home where they can spend their remaining weeks, months, or years. The same goes for abused, neglected, and forgotten animals. Every soul deserves the opportunity to heal on their own time before being put up for animal adoption in Kansas City or Wichita.

Who We Are

You’ve likely noticed, if you follow us, that things don’t always go as planned. Even in our quiet sanctuary, we might suddenly find ourselves caring for a dozen puppies.

Always & Furever is different from most other senior animal rescues—we have no specific acceptance requirements. The age, condition, and proximity of an animal needing rescue are irrelevant. We’ll find a way to help if we have the space.

Complex and expensive medical cases don’t deter us, either. We’ve seen countless miracles and believe that every animal’s life is priceless.

The Always & Furever Core Practices

No Adoption Fees

We don’t put price tags on souls. All of our operations are supported by donations, which allow us to care for all of our rescue animals.

No Euthanasia

Every animal deserves to live, even if other shelters would deem their conditions too severe to sustain. We aren’t a kill shelter, and we never will be.

No Same-Day Adoptions

In order to protect our rescues, we do thorough background checks on every potential adopter. This ensures every pairing is a perfect match.

I have been a foster for A&F as well as adopted my sweet dog from them. I can honestly say the adoption process was seamless. They perform a background check on the potential adopter and I believe other adults in the home as well as do a home visit, either in person or virtually. That made me feel like they truly do want the best for the animals in their care. Their employees and volunteers go above and beyond in so many aspects of their treatment of the people interested in adopting as well as the care for the animals. They charge no adoption fees but simply run their rescue on donations. A&F not only rescues dogs and cats, but they advocate for animals not even in their care. They have gone to bat for the treatment of the animals in the Wichita Animal Shelter as well as several other shelters. Always & Furever only wants the best for all dogs and cats. Always & Furever fights for the well-being and happiness of pets, not just for their survival. Unlike most shelters, we provide rescued animals with kindness, comfort, and joy while they’re prepared for animal adoption in Kansas City or Wichita.

The Rescue and Adoption Process

To ensure a smooth transition to their new homes, all pets must be in good condition before adoption. This requires giving them urgent medical care and repairing any lost trust in humans.
